  1.  Visit Schools in the assigned region and represent Scholastic

  5. Capture School’s requirements, suggest&implement ways to cater to them.

Qualification, Specification & Skills required:

  • MBA Graduate / Post graduate in any stream with 1 to 3 yrs. of working experience.
  •  Excellent Communication skills
  •  Extremely articulate.
  •  Open to travel extensively within city.
  •  Candidates with experience in Retail/ FMCG/ Education will be preferred.
  •  Ability to think out of the Box.

2. Editor Maths

Position: Editor Maths
Supervisor: Senior Editor

REQUIREMENTS:

Educational Qualifications:

  • University degree, with a major in a teaching or relevant subject, e.g. media and communication
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Education (an advantage)

Work Experience:

  • No experience necessary
  • Teaching experience or editorial experience (an advantage)

Prerequisites:

  • Strong interest in education
  • Excellent written and spoken command of the English language
  • Results-driven, able to meet tight deadlines
  • Able to work independently and as a team player
  • Flexible and creative; e.g. able to solve problems creatively in order to meet deadlines
  • Meticulous, well-organised and able to multi-task
  • Familiar with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong desire to learn
  • Lots of initiative

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Project Management
  • Coordinate all aspects of materials development from manuscripts to final products, including liaising with designers, illustrators, vendorsetc
  • Plan and update schedules based on given/estimated milestones
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials by monitoring schedules and ensuring that deadlines are met
  • Check quality of work done by designers, illustrators and vendors to ensure consistency and adherence to style
  • Maintain high quality of editorial work so as not to go into additional rounds of proofs and incur additional costs
  • Keep track of budgeted time and costs
  • Ensure planned expenses (photographs and illustrations) fall within budget and/or suggesting alternatives
  • Suggest viable solutions for problems during development process in consultation with supervisor
  1. Project Development
  • Content-, language- and copy-edit manuscripts and proofs to ensure that content is accurate, suitable for end-users and that flow of content is presented in a logical manner
  • Work closely with project team and supervisor to ensure uniformity of style in all aspects of materials development, from design, illustration to language
  • Insert or remove any editorial material in consultation with supervisor
  • Prepare artwork and photo briefs
  • Carry out photo-sourcing and obtain permission for use of copyrighted materials
  • Proofread and check materials at all stages of development
  • Check reprints and ozalids/blueprints
  • Mark up editorial master copies for reprint
  • Prepare documents, e.g. print form

3. Senior Editor Maths

Position: Senior Editor Maths
Supervisor: Managing Editor/Executive Editor

REQUIREMENTS:

Educational Qualifications:

  • University degree, with a major in a teaching subject.
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Education (an advantage)

Work Experience:

  • At least 5 years’ teaching and/or editorial experience – content-, language- and copy-editing
  • At least 2-3 years’ project management experience – able to handle several projects and to multi-task

In addition to the prerequisites of an Editor:

  • Strong interest in education
  • Able to work with and lead a team of editors
  • Strong interest in materials development in education and in meeting educational needs through print and electronic material
  • Meticulous and yet able to have big picture in mind

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Management of Team Operations
  • Work with supervisor to assign projects to and monitor workload of team members
  • Keep track of work progress and timeliness
  • Mentor new editors on basic processes and skills
  • Identify best practices to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Work with vendors/freelancers to develop processes, styles and determine modes of communications
  • Carry out handovers for projects
  • Source for freelancers
  • Conduct regular project updates with supervisor
  1. Project Management
  • Evaluate sample chapters
  • Propose formats, components and other aspects of the titles
  • Conduct initial briefings for new projects
  • Ensure projects progress according to scheduled timeline
  • Ensure planned expenses (photographs and illustrations) fall within budget and/or suggesting alternatives
  • Suggest viable solutions for problems during development process in consultation with supervisor
  1. Project Development
  • Content-edit manuscripts to ensure that relevant syllabus points have been covered
  • Assume the role of Editor for certain projects
  • Work with editors to plan schedules based on project milestones
  • Provide direction on look and design of materials in consultation with supervisor and designers
  • Work closely with Sales and Marketing departments to ensure that books are relevant to target market
  • Guide editors on pedagogical content development and appropriate pitching
  • Review and approve edited manuscripts, proofs, covers etcand conduct discussions with editors/authors whenever necessary
  • Check freelance editors’ work to ensure quality in content and format
  • Review artwork and photo briefs prepared by editors
  • Monitor purchases and payments based on approved budgets
  • Assist supervisor in the writing of prefaces and blurbs
  • Pass titles for press
  • Review and approvechanges to reprints and ozalids/blueprints checked by editors
  1. Marketing/Market Research
  • Gather market intelligence and trends
  • Review competitors’ titles with the objective of identifying USPs for our products
  1. Administrative and Others
  • Assist Managing Editor in the preparation of budgets
  • Undertake the administrative aspects of a project (forms, etc)
  • Attend to enquiries from various departments pertaining to project administration matters
  • Provide feedback for evaluation of editors for confirmation and annual appraisal
