1. Educational Consultants

  1.  Visit Schools in the assigned region and represent Scholastic
  2.  Meet educators to promote Scholastic and its various School based programs
  3.  Build, connect and establish relationship with schools.
  4.  Promote sales through Book fairs, Book Clubs, Education& other school based programs
  5. Capture School’s requirements, suggest&implement ways to cater to them.
  6. Overseeing end to end execution of School based programmes


Qualification, Specification & Skills required:

  • MBA Graduate / Post graduate in any stream with 1 to 3 yrs. of working experience.
  •  Excellent Communication skills
  •  Extremely articulate.
  •  Open to travel extensively within city.
  •  Candidates with experience in Retail/ FMCG/ Education will be preferred.
  •  Ability to think out of the Box.

Position: Senior Editor Maths
Supervisor: Managing Editor/Executive Editor
Editorial - Educational Division


Educational Qualifications:

  • University degree, with a major in a teaching subject.
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Education (an advantage)

Work Experience:

  • At least 5 years’ teaching and/or editorial experience – content-, language- and copy-editing
  • At least 2-3 years’ project management experience – able to handle several projects and to multi-task

In addition to the prerequisites of an Editor:

  • Strong interest in education
  • Able to work with and lead a team of editors
  • Strong interest in materials development in education and in meeting educational needs through print and electronic material
  • Meticulous and yet able to have big picture in mind

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Management of Team Operations
  • Work with supervisor to assign projects to and monitor workload of team members
  • Keep track of work progress and timeliness
  • Mentor new editors on basic processes and skills
  • Identify best practices to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Work with vendors/freelancers to develop processes, styles and determine modes of communications
  • Carry out handovers for projects
  • Source for freelancers
  • Conduct regular project updates with supervisor
  1. Project Management
  • Evaluate sample chapters
  • Propose formats, components and other aspects of the titles
  • Conduct initial briefings for new projects
  • Ensure projects progress according to scheduled timeline
  • Ensure planned expenses (photographs and illustrations) fall within budget and/or suggesting alternatives
  • Suggest viable solutions for problems during development process in consultation with supervisor
  1. Project Development
  • Content-edit manuscripts to ensure that relevant syllabus points have been covered
  • Assume the role of Editor for certain projects
  • Work with editors to plan schedules based on project milestones
  • Provide direction on look and design of materials in consultation with supervisor and designers
  • Work closely with Sales and Marketing departments to ensure that books are relevant to target market
  • Guide editors on pedagogical content development and appropriate pitching
  • Review and approve edited manuscripts, proofs, covers etcand conduct discussions with editors/authors whenever necessary
  • Check freelance editors’ work to ensure quality in content and format
  • Review artwork and photo briefs prepared by editors
  • Monitor purchases and payments based on approved budgets
  • Assist supervisor in the writing of prefaces and blurbs
  • Pass titles for press
  • Review and approvechanges to reprints and ozalids/blueprints checked by editors
  1. Marketing/Market Research
  • Gather market intelligence and trends
  • Review competitors’ titles with the objective of identifying USPs for our products
  1. Administrative and Others
  • Assist Managing Editor in the preparation of budgets
  • Undertake the administrative aspects of a project (forms, etc)
  • Attend to enquiries from various departments pertaining to project administration matters
  • Provide feedback for evaluation of editors for confirmation and annual appraisal


Job Description:

  •  Provide direct instruction in the academic areas to teachers,-one-to-one, or group basis, either in the resource room or the regular classroom;
  •  Conduct sessions on a variety of teaching strategies that instructors can use to improve student learning – Active Learning, Co – operative and collaborative Learning, Critical Thinking, Experiential Learning, Inquiry Learning, Discussion strategies.
  •  Monitor school’s progress thrice a year, participates in review and revision of the institutionalize education programs
  •  Provide emphasis at the pre- primary, primary and middle school levels
  •  Conduct enjoyable sessions on application of effective classroom management techniques; referral and assessment procedures;
  •  Assist in instructional planning and various programs
  •  Coordinate with the organization and distribution of education media and materials for resources in regular classrooms;
  •  Workshops for parents & children;
  •  Plan and develop strategies on relationship building for sales team
  •  Be a part of the company’s interview panel and identify candidates for Karnataka branches.
